[It is early in the evening when he finally begins to stir. A hand slowly reaches up to rub at tired eyes as they blink into focus, Naruto staring up at the ceiling above him. Immediately he frowns as memories of new and old jumble together. It had felt like a dream, though it couldn't have been. Why didn't he have chakra? Oh yeah- Johto.

Feeling the presence of someone else in the room distracts him as he turns his head to the side, immediately greeted with the sight of long, flowing red hair.]

....So when are we going to Violet? [You hit hard enough to knock him out Mom, he'll concede this time.]

[A little time later the Pokegear shows Naruto sat on a bed as an excitable Carnivine is wrapped around his shoulders, happily chewing on his head once again. Some things never change!]

So--yeah. I guess that thing happened to me, y'know, when people fall asleep and have the dreams? But they're not real dreams? [Descriptive as always. On that subject though, there are some people he wants to talk to. He should probably send them some private messages.]

Oi Neji. Sasuke. I wanna talk to you guys.

[...Or just do it that way instead. He has a pretty serious look about him for once, so they should probably get in contact with him.]

[With a huff he moves around and attempts to unwrap the Carnivine from around him. Since he has it on, he may as well ask that question he had before the coma stuff happened.]

I'm still gonna go check out that dragon place up here, the one Tenten told me about. What's the best dragon type out there? I have Ryūka-chan already, she's a Charizard now and she's grown really strong.

Sasuke came back?

[He'll take a small moment from the questions to smile at that fact, that he himself had apparently arrived with his son's teammate in tow.

But there was still something strange about his "revival", and really, even thinking about it happening in the first place.]

If we weren't being controlled, then it was important for whomever it was that summoned us that we retained our memories... there's a lot of information one could take from the previous leaders of the village.

[Which worried him, a bit. Even if setting them loose on the battlefield still in control of themselves seemed a move to help, not hinder.]

And it doesn't- Edo Tensei, I mean, on someone who made a contract with the Death God. That's why they would have had to know about the temple and how to break the Shiki Fūjin seal else summoning me would have simply failed.

[...sorry son, he can't help but let his mind race into putting the pieces together. But- with their knowledge of the shinobi world so outdated it was rather futile to try and figure out the summoner.]

I couldn't really make a guess as to what exactly, but clearly there was something only the four of us could answer. But that's a lot of work just to talk to someone, and the person that broke the seal would have been... sacrificed, in exchange for our release.

[Sorry kiddo, mommy had an aha! moment and started rambling once daddy finished. But she shoots Minato a questioning look when he mentioned Sasuke returning. Something else Naruto had skimmed over prior to the family chat.]

You're right! Unless there was more than one person there? Whoever wanted information could've had someone under their control to break the seal for them. Because you don't make any kind of deals with the Death God and expect to live, y'know. If someone went there knowing how to get in and break the seal, they couldn't have been stupid enough to not know they'd have to sacrificed. So maybe it could've been someone with a death wish or was dying anyway? I'd say it could be someone with a powerful or forbidden healing technique, but sacrificing yourself to break the mask isn't something you can heal yourself from or get someone else to do for you either.

Considering they had knowledge of both techniques, I'm almost certain either there was someone chosen to be used as a sacrifice, or that they had their own forbidden technique to circumvent dying themselves.

The thought too, that at least four people were sacrificed already to summon the Hokage left a sour taste in his mouth. Regardless of what information they could provide or the aid they could offer in the war, that simply wasn't acceptable.]

..And I'm assuming you weren't able to hear much else about it, Naruto.

[Otherwise he probably would have cut in to verify or correct their theories.]

[Yeah, Naruto knew nothing. He wasn't even sure what the Death Reaper seal even was, honestly.

He shakes his head.]

I just know you and the Hokages showed up. And Sasuke came too, and he had something to do with it. But. [SHRUG. He doesn't know, okay?]

Speaking of, you still haven't told me why it was such a big deal that he came back to the battlefield. [pause] Okay so bringing four revived-from-the-dead Hokage is a big deal. But unless he just walked off in the middle of fighting without a word, I still don't get it.

It's kinda a long story.. but he left the village back when we were thirteen. The Sasuke that's here now, that hadn't happened for him yet.

[Naruto purposefully leaves a lot out here; how they fought, how he chased and chased after Sasuke and failed each time, how Sasuke killed a temporary Hokage.]

There's a lot that happened in Konoha that you and Dad missed out on. [He still doesn't blame Sasuke for doing what he did.]

But. He came back. That's why it's a big deal.

[It's highly possible (AND ACTUAL CANON BUT) that Sasuke wanted, or needed, to hear from Sandaime, to go straight to the source to learn about his clan and the real reasons behind what had happened to them.

Still didn't explain why the others were revived though, and to go to such extremes...]

There's a lot we should probably explain, Kushina. But I think I'd like to hear more about what's happening in the war first.

[He'd apparently been there, after all, and breaking the news about their friends to his wife... maybe he should have done that sooner.]

Yeah, that would probably be a good idea. There's probably a lot going on besides fighting alongside your dad and his predecessors.

[And it's time to settle in for story time, not really sure where it's gonna go or what's gonna be said. But none of it was bound to be pleasant, that much she'd guess.]

[Oh boy. When Minato asks to hear more about the war, there's only one thing on Naruto's mind.

That masked man, the one they were fighting; the one who attacked Konoha all those years ago.

How do you even bring up something like that? It's obvious on his face, he does wear his heart on his sleeve after all.]

Well. It was mostly just fighting that Madara and the fake Madara. You know, the masked guy.

[No, he doubted any of it was pleasant, and actually moved to take a seat before Naruto started talking, easing down onto the side of the bed.]

The one that attacked the night you were born.

[He didn't offer anything else though, aside from a nod for Naruto to continue.]

[She stops herself mid-sentence. Try and save questions for later. She hadn't even known the masked man had posed as Madara at all. No... questions would have to wait unless there was some gaping hole in the story or she got lost and confused.

She plunks herself down next to Minato and silently gestures for Naruto to continue.]

[Well, if his parents are sitting down, Naruto will go ahead take a seat on the floor. This will probably be a long conversation, after all.]

He's the one that started the Fourth Shinobi War. He called himself Madara, but then the real Madara was brought back with Edo Tensei.

Anyway the five kage were fighting the real Madara, while me and Octopops were fighting the other, then Kakahi-sensei and Bushy-brow-sensei showed up, then everyone else did too, as well as the other Madara, and they summoned the Juubi somehow, then Ob- [ALMOST A SLIP UP THERE] ...fake-Madara absorbed it and-- yeah.

There's just a lot of fighting going on.

[So his suspicions that night had been... mostly right. Sort of.

He definitely picked up on that almost slip though, but-]

[WASN'T THAT IN THE MOON...

Things sounded much worse than the information he'd heard thus far about the war.]

[Lucky for Naruto, she was distracted more by the mention of the Juubi to catch the almost slip-up otherwise she'd never let it go and cause a thread paradox oops. So she just took in what she could with the patented Uzumaki "I'm not completely understanding this" frown on her face.

Everything about this war sounded absolutely shitty though. But what Minato had said that night about a harbinger of disaster... looks like it came to be, albeit sixteen plus one years later. And oh look, opening for questions.]

The Juubi? But there should've only been nine bijuu. ...Unless it's not a bijuu? And who's Bushy-brow-sensei and Octopops anyway?

That's what the Akatsuki were doing all those years, gathering the tailed beasts. That story about them all being combined into the Juubi, i dunno if you heard about it, but it's true.

But they only had seven- I still have Kurama, and Octopops- he's the Eight-tails Jinchuuriki- still has his, but they got the chakra from some other place?

[If only there was someone else here who could do all this explaining stuff. He is like, the worst at it.]

What's important is that we stop him, before anyone else gets hurt, or they go through with their stupid Moon Eye plan.

[Huh... so Kyuubi had a name. That's news to her. Then again, she never cared enough to ask.]

So what's this Moon Eye plan supposed to do anyway? And to have the power of all nine bijuu in one Jinchuuriki... I'm not sure I like the sound of where this is going. I wonder what controlling the Juubi that way has to do with everything.

It's a plan to put the whole world under some stupid genjutsu. That guy, he thinks changing the world into how he wants it and controlling everyone in it is gonna bring peace. but it won't.

Whaaaaaat?! That's the stupidest thing I ever heard! You can't control what everyone in the world does! I mean you could try, but it would go over like... like tomatoes in ramen!

[It's just not right. You don't defile something as sacred as ramen with such a gross and messy fruit.]
