[It is early in the evening when he finally begins to stir. A hand slowly reaches up to rub at tired eyes as they blink into focus, Naruto staring up at the ceiling above him. Immediately he frowns as memories of new and old jumble together. It had felt like a dream, though it couldn't have been. Why didn't he have chakra? Oh yeah- Johto.

Feeling the presence of someone else in the room distracts him as he turns his head to the side, immediately greeted with the sight of long, flowing red hair.]

....So when are we going to Violet? [You hit hard enough to knock him out Mom, he'll concede this time.]

[A little time later the Pokegear shows Naruto sat on a bed as an excitable Carnivine is wrapped around his shoulders, happily chewing on his head once again. Some things never change!]

So--yeah. I guess that thing happened to me, y'know, when people fall asleep and have the dreams? But they're not real dreams? [Descriptive as always. On that subject though, there are some people he wants to talk to. He should probably send them some private messages.]

I'm still gonna go check out that dragon place up here, the one Tenten told me about. What's the best dragon type out there? I have Ryūka-chan already, she's a Charizard now and she's grown really strong.

So it's like a dragon made out of water then. Instead of like... I dunno summoning a dragon that swims and shoots water or something. Wait, can ninjas even do that? I know you guys use some kind of elemental chakra magic or something but...

Either way though, that's pretty nifty! So he never taught you how to do it then?

Yeah, that's it! It's just like that! I dunno anyone that can summon real dragons, but some can summon other stuff. Like I can, with toads?

He didn't teach me but that doesn't matter 'cause I know stuff that's way more awesome than that. [HE'S PRETTY AWESOME YKNOW]

[Cue eyebrow quirk.]

Toads.

[It's not a question, neither is it particularly scornful or judgmental. But it's clear that John has no idea how in the world toads could be a useful summon for, presumably, fighting. Because Tenten seems to make it out like that's basically all you ninja sorts do.]

Toads! From Mount Myobaku! Some of 'em are huge! Actually, before I woke up, I summoned Gamakichi and he was like... bigger than a house.

Oh. Okay, I can sort of see how a giant toad might be a little more useful in battle than just a regular toad. Though..."toad" still does not come to mind immediately when thinking about ferocious, battle ready animals.

[They don't even have teeth or claws!]

...assuming that's actually what they're used for?

Yeah! You can summon 'em in battle. Or like-- get them to take messages for you, things like that.

Except you wouldn't really want to summon one of the huge ones just to take a message. I reckon I'd be in trouble with Granny Tsunade if I did that in the village.

Huh. Neat. So can a person only summon one kind of animal then? Or is it just a preference thing?

...I dunno. I mean, I guess you could have more if you wanted? To be able to summon though, you have to sign a contract with the ones you want to summon.

Not like a business contract- I mean there's like.. this scroll, and when I did mine I had to write my name on it in blood.
