[It is early in the evening when he finally begins to stir. A hand slowly reaches up to rub at tired eyes as they blink into focus, Naruto staring up at the ceiling above him. Immediately he frowns as memories of new and old jumble together. It had felt like a dream, though it couldn't have been. Why didn't he have chakra? Oh yeah- Johto.

Feeling the presence of someone else in the room distracts him as he turns his head to the side, immediately greeted with the sight of long, flowing red hair.]

....So when are we going to Violet? [You hit hard enough to knock him out Mom, he'll concede this time.]

[A little time later the Pokegear shows Naruto sat on a bed as an excitable Carnivine is wrapped around his shoulders, happily chewing on his head once again. Some things never change!]

So--yeah. I guess that thing happened to me, y'know, when people fall asleep and have the dreams? But they're not real dreams? [Descriptive as always. On that subject though, there are some people he wants to talk to. He should probably send them some private messages.]

Oi Neji. Sasuke. I wanna talk to you guys.

[...Or just do it that way instead. He has a pretty serious look about him for once, so they should probably get in contact with him.]

[With a huff he moves around and attempts to unwrap the Carnivine from around him. Since he has it on, he may as well ask that question he had before the coma stuff happened.]

I'm still gonna go check out that dragon place up here, the one Tenten told me about. What's the best dragon type out there? I have Ryūka-chan already, she's a Charizard now and she's grown really strong.

Yup! He has quite the little collection going, and he's really the only person I know who favors dragon types.

But yes, you can! Here, hold on... [He stands up and disappears from the screen momentarily. After a few moments he returns, leading a fairly large Altaria with a bright red bow tied around her "hair". She chirps happily at the screen as she makes herself comfortable next to John on the couch.]

See? Super fluffy bird-dragon!

[Woah that certainly is a fluffy looking pokemon. It would probably be handy for the times he spends outside training, or sleeping between cities.]

Well yeah, of course. He's... somewhere around here. I'm kind of stunned that talking about him hasn't already summoned him somehow. Have we said his name three times yet? Maybe that's why he has yet to appear. Dave Strider, Dave Strider, Dave Strider.

Okay if that doesn't work then I will just shoot him a text here in a second. He's probably just out goofing off somewhere.

[Which... it's probably not going to work because Dave is neither Beetlejuice nor Bloody Mary.]

Anyway, yeah they're feathers! Kind of weird for a dragon to have, I know, but there you have it.

Well, which ones are the best. I wanna get some dragons for the Blackthorn Gym.

It depends on what your style is. I haven't taken on Clair yet, but most dragons aren't pure dragon, there's always another type involved once they reach their final forms.

The blind one I don't have is dark typed with dragon. Dragonite is flying plus dragon. Same with Salamence. It's a good idea not to solely rely on their dragon moves. Powerful as they are, she'll know how to counter and have some ice moves waiting to one-shot you.

It's a good idea to do the same and anything to chip away at her. Dragons always, always hit like a mac truck. Gotta temper that was great defense.

So I oughta get ones with good defense, and ones that aren't gonna be weak to dragons. Got it!

Teach them ice moves if you can. Don't get a pure ice type if you can help it. They're weak to too much and dragons have a varied arsenal.

It only worked because I just got back from the Italian place. Which is weird. There's no earth countries how did italian food arrive?? [He holds up a takeout bag of three boxes. He's a growing dude. Don't judge his food intake.]

I bet they either freezed him whole for later - in case they could cure him - or used a formaldehyde mixture and kept in a sealed container.

It is weird, but then again what pokemon doesn't look weird.

I know and I am completely stunned by this fact. I was not honestly expecting it to.

[This changes everything. Never again will he have to actually get up and hunt Dave down.]

Well I didn't really mean it weird in that sense! I don't think Liv looks weird at all. [He coos at the Altaria, who seems immensely satisfied that John did NOT agree with that statement. His girls have him very well trained.]

It's just that when you think "dragon" you usually think "scales" and Altarias are all feathers! That's what's weird about it. But it's not a bad weird, I don't think.

When I think of dragon I just think of ninja techniques, really. Once, Kakashi-sensei did this really cool water dragon... thing! It was awesome!

[As for the Altaria though.]

Maybe a dragon and a bird had a kid, and that's it.

Haha, maybe! You just never know with Pokémon. But okay, you are going to have to be way more specific about this 'water dragon thing' because that could mean anything.

[Ninja techniques sound pretty cool, come on don't skimp on the details, man.]

It's like-- a jutsu, and the water around you rises up? [He's just passed off the gear to some pokemon so he can use his hands to help describe it]

And the waves form this huge dragon, and you send it off to attack someone! You can do it with fire too!

[Yes, good Hand gestures. John can appreciate and understand these, as he is a notorious user of them himself.]

So it's like a dragon made out of water then. Instead of like... I dunno summoning a dragon that swims and shoots water or something. Wait, can ninjas even do that? I know you guys use some kind of elemental chakra magic or something but...

Either way though, that's pretty nifty! So he never taught you how to do it then?

Yeah, that's it! It's just like that! I dunno anyone that can summon real dragons, but some can summon other stuff. Like I can, with toads?
