[Action]

[It is early in the evening when he finally begins to stir. A hand slowly reaches up to rub at tired eyes as they blink into focus, Naruto staring up at the ceiling above him. Immediately he frowns as memories of new and old jumble together. It had felt like a dream, though it couldn't have been. Why didn't he have chakra? Oh yeah- Johto.

Feeling the presence of someone else in the room distracts him as he turns his head to the side, immediately greeted with the sight of long, flowing red hair.]

....So when are we going to Violet? [You hit hard enough to knock him out Mom, he'll concede this time.]

[A little time later the Pokegear shows Naruto sat on a bed as an excitable Carnivine is wrapped around his shoulders, happily chewing on his head once again. Some things never change!]

So--yeah. I guess that thing happened to me, y'know, when people fall asleep and have the dreams? But they're not real dreams? [Descriptive as always. On that subject though, there are some people he wants to talk to. He should probably send them some private messages.]

Oi Neji. Sasuke. I wanna talk to you guys.

[...Or just do it that way instead. He has a pretty serious look about him for once, so they should probably get in contact with him.]

[With a huff he moves around and attempts to unwrap the Carnivine from around him. Since he has it on, he may as well ask that question he had before the coma stuff happened.]

I'm still gonna go check out that dragon place up here, the one Tenten told me about. What's the best dragon type out there? I have Ryūka-chan already, she's a Charizard now and she's grown really strong.

Asuma-sensei? That was her son's name, but a jounin sensei now? I guess I keep forgetting everyone I remember as kids and teenagers are all grown up now. Haha...

And you're right, everyone knew about the Sannin. But I know what you mean about the sudden change with the Hokage you remember from when you were a little kid suddenly changing. It was weird when he said he was retiring. [But she sure as hell didn't mind that Minato was named his successor. :3c]

[He's never on time or around when he needs to be, you guys know that.

A guy leaves the room to use the bathroom ONE TIME...

He could hear Kushina chattering away as he made his way back down the hallway, but assumed one of the kids had joined her, didn't give it much thought until he turned, stepping through the door-frame and-]

...Naruto?

[His eyes widened, seeing his son standing and talking and he was okay, he was awake...

Hurried strides carried him across the room, arms lifting and opening and embracing his son, pulling him closer into a firm hug.]

We were so worried... are you okay?

Yeah it's-

[Naruto never gets to finish that sentence, because Minato steps into the room. He's immediately turning around to face him once he hears that voice.]

Dad!

[He's smiling by the time they fall into the hug. He's really relieved to see his Dad again-- in more ways than one.]

I'm fine y'know! [He'll be fine.] I was just talking to Mom about some.. things.

[Ah, that's right. Naruto would probably remember more things from home now- the reason he'd passed out in the first place.

But they didn't need to delve immediately into that, his hug tightening with a final squeeze before he stepped back, hands moving up to rest on his son's shoulders.]

I see she finished your cloak. It looks good on you.

[--The cloak?

Oh!!]

Haha, yeah! [And there's that Uzumaki grin, as he takes a step back to proudly show it off.]

So do I look like a super awesome future-Hokage or what?!

Absolutely.

[He's just... so relieved to hear Naruto's voice again, to see his son up and moving around, eyes stinging with unshed tears even though a large grin lit up his expression too. He'd had little doubt that Naruto would be fine but...

It had been a long, long week.]

[It really warmed her heart to see her two boys back together again. Are you both ready for a group hug? Because mama's incoming with her arms to drag the pair of them in.]

[Family hug! He shuffles a little to have an arm around each. It's nice to just have this moment, back in the calmness and comfort of his parents.]

[Group family hug! An arm slipped around each of them, his head tilting to rest atop Kushina's as he squeezed them both tight.

For all the weirdness in this world, he could excuse it completely if it meant having the two of them at his side.]

[This was definitely how she could have imagined their life being had everything not gone to complete and utter shit. And this moment? So worth everything that had happened in the last three weeks.

Funny thing about hugging her family though... she usually didn't want to let go.]

[Naruto doesn't want to either. It's been an emotional coma. But he reluctantly steps back, enough to look at them both. His arms don't lave them, though.]

I'm sorry I made you both worry.

[There's a small laugh at that, more a short exhale of air than an actual sign of amusement.]

We'll always worry about you. But we're just glad you're awake now.

[Even if... he knew Naruto shouldn't be here, should be back home, living his life. Saving the world.]

Mmhm! [She brought the hand that had been around Naruto's back up onto his shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze.]

It's like I said before, you're our son. We can't not worry about you. I guess it kinda comes with the territory. Heheh...

[-!! Looking at his parents reminds him, of what he was talking to Mom about. He goes wide-eyed, staring at her before spinning around to face Minato.]

I saw you!

[The arm that had been around his son obviously moved back against his side once Naruto pulled away, but the hand at Kushina's back stayed in place, fingertips curling in a bit in surprise at Naruto's exclamation.]

...But I thought the fail-safe had already been activated?

[That should have been-

Edo Tensei. Tsunade had mentioned it was being used in the war but...]

[You thought right, Dad.]

Edo Tensei. It wasn't you, the other three Hokages before you were there too. [It isn't all bad news though.]

You weren't like-- being controlled, like the other ones though? You were there as yourself!

[She let go as he rounded on Minato, but huffed up at the mention of being controlled.]

What would Edo Tensei have to do with Minato being himself or not? [Shooting you an indignant look husbando. Even though this and other forbidden jutsu aren't the sort of thing that come up in everyday conversation.]

Edo Tensei... one of Nidaime's techniques. [That he didn't steal!] With it the user can bring back the dead- and control them, as they see fit. It's use is forbidden, and rightfully so.

[But still, he had been sealed in the death god- it wasn't as simple as just getting their hands on his DNA, which meant- (excuse him as smarty pants figures everything out)]

If I was there as an Edo Tensei, with my freewill still intact, it must have been someone from Konoha that summoned us. The Shiki Fūjin is an Uzumaki clan technique... and only someone that knew about the storage temple would have been able to break the seal.

...It was an Uzumaki technique? [COOL. Though this is important so he will dismiss gushing over that for now.]

I don't know how it happened, but I know Sasuke had something to do with it. When you arrived, you said you'd come with him and whoever he was with.

Didn't I ever tell you Sealing Jutsu were the specialty of the Uzumaki clan?

[Well that's not disturbing at all. And she certainly doesn't look disgusted for a moment either. So she's not commenting on that. Instead... she's got a million questions burning to get out first.]

But this is gonna bug me... What still-living Konoha shinobi knew where our storage temple is and how to get in? Unless it was an Uzumaki that survived Uzushio's destruction? But I don't know if one of them would do something like that.

[And apparently with the stream of questions is Kushina talking out loud as she tries to figure things out. But having memories nearly 17 years out of date make it hard to think of anyone who might still be relevant. It's... kinda irritating. And out of her resulting agitation, she's moved away from Minato's side to start pacing around the room.]

But which one wanted to revive four Hokage? Because that? That's not something you do on a whim. Every one of them is a powerful ninja in his own right. You'd have to have a lot of confidence in your abilities Why all of them in the first place? And which one knew that breaking the seal would have broken the seal on Minato too? I wonder if Edo Tensei doesn't normally work on those who used the Shiki Fūjin... Hmm...

Sasuke came back?

[He'll take a small moment from the questions to smile at that fact, that he himself had apparently arrived with his son's teammate in tow.

But there was still something strange about his "revival", and really, even thinking about it happening in the first place.]

If we weren't being controlled, then it was important for whomever it was that summoned us that we retained our memories... there's a lot of information one could take from the previous leaders of the village.

[Which worried him, a bit. Even if setting them loose on the battlefield still in control of themselves seemed a move to help, not hinder.]

And it doesn't- Edo Tensei, I mean, on someone who made a contract with the Death God. That's why they would have had to know about the temple and how to break the Shiki Fūjin seal else summoning me would have simply failed.

[...sorry son, he can't help but let his mind race into putting the pieces together. But- with their knowledge of the shinobi world so outdated it was rather futile to try and figure out the summoner.]

I couldn't really make a guess as to what exactly, but clearly there was something only the four of us could answer. But that's a lot of work just to talk to someone, and the person that broke the seal would have been... sacrificed, in exchange for our release.

[Sorry kiddo, mommy had an aha! moment and started rambling once daddy finished. But she shoots Minato a questioning look when he mentioned Sasuke returning. Something else Naruto had skimmed over prior to the family chat.]

You're right! Unless there was more than one person there? Whoever wanted information could've had someone under their control to break the seal for them. Because you don't make any kind of deals with the Death God and expect to live, y'know. If someone went there knowing how to get in and break the seal, they couldn't have been stupid enough to not know they'd have to sacrificed. So maybe it could've been someone with a death wish or was dying anyway? I'd say it could be someone with a powerful or forbidden healing technique, but sacrificing yourself to break the mask isn't something you can heal yourself from or get someone else to do for you either.

Mmn, it certainly wasn't just one person.

Considering they had knowledge of both techniques, I'm almost certain either there was someone chosen to be used as a sacrifice, or that they had their own forbidden technique to circumvent dying themselves.

The thought too, that at least four people were sacrificed already to summon the Hokage left a sour taste in his mouth. Regardless of what information they could provide or the aid they could offer in the war, that simply wasn't acceptable.]

[Yeah, Naruto knew nothing. He wasn't even sure what the Death Reaper seal even was, honestly.

He shakes his head.]

I just know you and the Hokages showed up. And Sasuke came too, and he had something to do with it. But. [SHRUG. He doesn't know, okay?]
